Woman gang-raped in shared cab on Yamuna Expressway in Agra, three held | Noida News

NOIDA/AGRA: Three passengers in the shared taxi taken by a woman from Noida are accused of gang raping her on the Yamuna expressway in Agra, police say.
A senior official stated that after dropping the woman off, the suspect ran away from the scene along the expressway under the Etmadpur Police Station area. The incident happened Tuesday night, the source added.
The three suspects have been arrested, said Agra Police, who launched an investigation into the matter on Wednesday morning after the woman approached Etmadpur Police Station to report the case.
“The woman got into the sector 37 shared taxi in Noida around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The taxi drove from Noida to Firozabad. The woman claimed that three people in the taxi raped her on the Yamuna Expressway and dropped her off at Etmadpur where she took an auto rickshaw to Firozabad,” said Dr Preetinder Singh, Agra Police Commissioner.
“On Wednesday morning, the woman came to Etmadpur police station and lodged a complaint, after which an FIR was filed before being sent for a medical,” Singh said.
The police commissioner said CCTV footage from tollbooths was analyzed to track the taxi, a Maruti Eeco, which was used as a taxi and impounded.
“The three men involved in the case were also arrested. They will be interrogated and further trials will be held,” Singh added.
