Flipkart and Amazon e-commerce platforms stopped delivering non-essential goods in Delhi after the government imposed lockdown on the city. The lockdown was imposed in Delhi on Monday and will be lifted on April 26 at 5 a.m. Under the latest lockdown guidelines, the government has only allowed the delivery of essential goods. Previously, Maharashtra had stopped delivering non-essential goods through e-commerce.

The spokesman for Amazon India confirmed this in a statement: “Customers trust that Amazon.in delivers all products safely according to their respective requirements. We are currently enabling the delivery of essential products in accordance with new government guidelines. However, over the past year we have learned from customers that the urgent needs of each household are different and that it is difficult to define a list of the static basics. We urge the Delhi government to allow the delivery and domestic / domestic movement of all products so that people can adhere to social distancing standards. E-commerce is the surest way to meet consumer needs while securing the livelihoods of lakhs of small and medium-sized businesses, including local businesses. “

Flipkart has yet to provide an explanation.

Goods that fall under the non-essential category include food, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Amazon and Flipkart also accept orders for other goods, but delivery of the same is no longer as fast as it was before the block. Chances are you’ll receive your goods after the lock is removed. On the other hand, the platforms for the delivery of food will continue to deliver food even during the state-imposed lockdowns.
